- You have to decide what you want to do. No one else can do this for you
- Do you have the skill set to allow you to do what you want to do? If not you will need to go and get the appropriate training / qualifications
- Find out where in the area you live are jobs advertised i.e. newspapers, internet etc
- If the job you want is not advertised then list the companies you want to work for and write into their personnel/Managing Director
- Make sure your CV is fully up to date and remember first impressions count so your CV needs to stand out and be professional
- The internet is amazing and you can quickly find the company you are looking for so log on now
- If you are lucky enough to get an interview do your homework. You need to be as prepared as possible and be able to demonstrate that you have done as much research as possible on the company
- Offer your service free of charge for around a month. This way you can demonstrate what you are able to bring to the party and the company will be impressed that you are willing to do this. Remember sometimes risks pay off
- Please be realist on what your limits are. We all have dreams but they have to be achievable. Not everyone can be a brain surgeon or the Prime Minister
- Robert the Bruce had a saying I never forget which is: if at first you don’t succeed try, try again! Never give up on your dream! When in a position to do so, try to give something back
